Saving and Verifying Records
When you complete a data entry record, the program ensures that you have not skipped any sections. If any of the items in a record are incomplete, you will be warned that items are missing. At this prompt, you may select Yes to save the record anyway, No to close the record without saving, or Cancel to continue entering data.
Required vs. Optional Items
All of the entries in Parts 1-6 are required. Even if a user left a range of questions blank, you should use the "none" bubble in Parts 1-6 to indicate the user's lack of response. This helps to ensure that blank rows were due to the examinee's choice, not the data entry person's oversight.

For the Information section, the Name, Identification #, and Testing Date items are required. These fields are used by the O*NET Ability Profiler Scoring Program (APSP), and help to distinguish one record from another. If the examinee did not fill out these items on the answer sheet, you may leave them blank, but it is best to try to determine the information and enter it on behalf of the examinee.

With the exception of Raw Scores, all other identified Optional items are not used by the APSP. Your organization may wish, however, to collect the information for other research purposes. If Raw Scores are available and entered here, they will be reflected in the Score Report. If you do not need the optional data, you may leave those items blank. You will still be reminded of these items when you close the record.

Tip: If you need to stop in the middle of data entry, you can save the record and re-open it later from the main window. Select the unfinished record and press the Edit button.
Verification
After a record is complete, you will be prompted to verify it. Verification is the process of entering the data a second time, to reduce the chance of data entry errors corrupting an examinee's score. To verify a completed record, answer OK when prompted by the program.

Tip: You can verify a record later, by selecting it in the main window and pressing the Verify button.

Tip: Turn your sound capability on, if available.

The verification process is almost identical to the first data entry process. However, if there are differences between the first and second data entry inputs, the program will beep and show a small exclamation-mark ! button next to the conflicting entry. If this happens, you should double-check the entry on the scoring sheet, and re-enter the information if needed.

If the first data entry input was wrong, click on the ! button to save your verified input. You may also type an exclamation mark to select the button.

After all of the data has been entered and any conflicts have been resolved, you can close the record window. The record will now be listed as verified in the main record list.
